SanXfer now provides the option to migrate servers over an IP network or a Fibre Channel (FC) network. Using SanXfer's wizard-driven, automated process, Windows-based systems can be migrated over an IP or FC network from any of these storage/boot options to any of these storage/boot options: local disks, SAN disks, iSCSI disks, or Virtual Disks (VMDKs).
A common problem with VMware Virtual Machines is a performance penalty due to misaligned partitions inside of VMDK files. The misalignment can results in a 20-30% negative performance hit. When performing an initial P2V, SanXfer correctly aligns the VMDK based partitions to avoid such problems. Further, for customers who already have VM alignment issues, SanXfer can be used to quickly resolve the alignment issue, thereby restoring your servers to their full potential.

SanXfer contains advanced logic to help dynamically optimize server migrations. This unique technology allows you to take advantage of high speed components such as fiber channel networks, high-performance disk arrays, and multi-core CPUs. By adjusting the migration parameters to the available environment, SanXfer can optimize the time required to migrate a server or a group of servers.
For a simple Windows server with a C: and D: drive totaling 30GB, SanXfer can migrate the server to new hardware across a Fibre Channel network in about 10 minutes.
If older components are in place, SanXfer is equally as reliable. Servers can be migrated across 10MB Ethernet links, as well as across wifi connections.
Because SanXfer performs an offline migration, there is no follow-up “Sync Step”, or even worse, multiple Sync Steps, as some other migration products require. All applications and data can be migrated in one shot. When a migrated server reboots on new hardware, new storage, or on a Virtual Machine, the Windows OS, and applications that run n that server treat the migration the same as a normal reboot.
